Simple Solutions Quiz over lessons 81-84. We skipped a quiz due to the timing of lessons after spring break.
We will review the day before the quiz, however students have the correct answers in their books and they should study these four lessons 2-3 days before the quiz in order to be successful. Collage Book Report: Students will read a book of their choice and construct a collage with at least 15 images that represent their story. Students may use images from magazines, the internet or even their own drawings. The students must also write a title and a short description (1-2 sentences) for each photo explaining how the image represents the story they read.
Students will be graded on: Content: -15 images with titles and descriptions and the title and the author are listed. Quality: -The collage is visually appealing and neatly done (edges are neatly cut and glued down). Accuracy: -The pictures included represent important parts of the story. -Sentences are clearly written and explain why the images are important to the book. Good morning!
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we will not be having word work this week or our end of the week reading assessments (spelling & comprehension) due to the shortened week. We also did not have the assessments last week due to our field trip. Have a great rest of your day! -Mrs. Sprouls Just a reminder that we have a simple solutions quiz tomorrow, covering lessons 65-68.
Today, permission slips will be sent home for our field trip to see "The Wizard of Oz" at CCHS. Please return these forms by 3/12/2019. Remember to fill out both front and back. Please assume we are wearing school uniform unless otherwise noted.
We will be leaving promptly at 8:40 and returning around 11:40. If you are able to help drive students to and from CCHS, please email me as soon as possible. Have a great day! -Mrs. Sprouls Just a reminder that next week is Catholic School's week. Everyday is a uniform day, except for Tuesday, January 29th (Dress like your favorite book character) and Thursday, January 31st (Jeans/spirit wear). Today, we will be sending home a permission slip for our "Four Schools, One Family" mass at St. Patrick's, which will be next Friday, February 1st. Please have those permission slips turned in by January 29th.
Also, next Friday, February 1st is a 11:15 dismissal day, so we will be dismissing shortly after returning from mass. Yesterday, scholastic book orders were sent home. If you wish to order, please have your order submitted either online or send it in to school by the 22nd, next Tuesday.
Thanks! Good morning!
I am so sorry for the confusion on the date for our simple solutions quiz. With our skating schedule being different from our typical every day the past two weeks have been a bit crazy and a lot of our routines and time we have for each class have been switched around and stuff has been pushed back. Anyway, yesterday morning, I talked to the fourth graders and they decided they only needed one more day to study for their simple solutions quiz, so we pushed it to Thursday, the 17th (tomorrow). It completely slipped my mind to update that on school speak, it is now updated. Next Monday, the 21st, is MLK day so we do not have school, our math test for chapter 5 will be on Tuesday the 22nd, this should be updated in school speak. We also will be having our Geography test for our new social studies unit next week. Students will be receiving materials to bring home to study. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work with the different schedule, thankfully, this is the last week of skating and things will be back to normal on Tuesday! Have a wonderful day, stay warm! -Mrs. Sprouls Good morning,
In anticipation for the upcoming holiday break, the kiddos are very excited. I want to spend some time this week using this excitement to make their learning more engaging. For this reason, we will not be doing reading centers this week, so students do not need to complete spelling or Journey's pages. We will instead use this time to read about Christmas and do some enrichment activities to review some reading strategies already taught. I just wanted to let you know in case your child's homework folder was a littler lighter this week! I am looking forward to a week full of excitement and the "Christmas Crazies!" I hope you all have a great day! -Mrs. Sprouls Last week, students received the rubric for the Dec/Jan book report. Students will have all of December to read a story of their choice and fill out the graphic organizer. When we return from winter break, students will work with me to write a short summary of the book they read. The report is due on Jan. 31st.
Next week, we will have our last vocab quiz for our IL History & Government unit. Students have made flashcards and we will spend our social studies class time today and Monday reviewing for the test. We will take the quiz on Tuesday, December 18th. Also, we will have our Simple Solutions Quiz next week. This quiz covers lessons 41-44. We will review the day before in class, however students must study those four lessons at home to be successful on the test. The Simple Solutions quiz will take place on Wednesday, December 19th. book_report-4th_grade.pub The fourth graders will be caroling at St. Joseph's with the school choir on Tuesday, December 18th. We will be leaving the school at 12:45 and arriving back at school around 2:30. We will be caroling starting around 1 pm. I will be sending out permission slips this week.
I will be needing drivers/chaperones to attend the field trip. If you can drive, please email me or attach a note to your student's permission slip and then double check that all of your insurance info in the office is up-to-date. Please let me know if you can come with us! Have a great day! -Mrs. Sprouls Good morning!
Yesterday, I found a craft pattern that I would like to make with the students either next week or the week after. We will be making Advent wreaths. To do this, we will need 60 cardboard rolls from toilet paper so each student can make 4 candles on their wreath and so I can make an example. I can also use paper towel inserts and cut them in half. If you happen to have some, please send them in if you have some at home! You do not need to go buy any extra, I have others saving some for me as well. Thanks! -Mrs. Sprouls. Hello!
